Information

Thanks for taking a look.

I first started taking pictures in my late teens but it wasn't until quite a few years later, following a seriously stalled career in music and a more successful career in health, that I started taking photos again. I quickly became hooked and, relieved that I'd found a creative outlet, I promptly took up some study in photography.

While many argue that formal education is not particularly necessary for photography, I find it inspiring, challenging and a lot of fun. I study at The Centre for Creative Photography. (Links)

Many of the street photos on here are inspired by Trent Parke, Matt Stuart, Jesse Marlow, Nick Turpin and all the others at In-Public. (Links) Looking further back, Lee Friedlander, Robert Frank, Walker Evans and Richard Kalvar are (or were) all leaders in their field and I often find myself going back to them. There are many more though. Marc Riboud's "Vietnam 1976" is an image that constantly stops me in my tracks. (Links)

I had the pleasure of meeting Trent Parke the other day. I saw him shooting on the street and went over and introduced myself. We walked and chatted about photography, his projects, getting hassled and kids for about half an hour. A very nice guy and an inspiration to meet.

Thanks again
